Features of fabric for protective suit
The quality of protection depends directly on used materials in production of workwear. Fabrics for protective apparel must comply strictly with the technical regulations for certain risks.
Depending on the scope of application, the fabric may have the following functional characteristics:
- antistatic effect
- fire resistance
- oil and water repellent
- acid resistance
- water resistance
- dust resistance
- heat resistance
- resistance to various weather factors
Also important indicators of the quality of the fabric are the weight and density of the material, strength, wear resistance, ease of maintenance and usage comfort.
Fabrics types for a protective suit
Fabric for protective suits can be completely natural (cotton fibers), blended (cotton with polyester addition, elastane, antistatic thread), polyester (aramid, para-aramid, meta-aramid fibers).
To ensure the specific protective properties of materials, various types of treatment are used:
- fire retardant impregnation
- acid-resistant finish (K50 or K80 resistance to acid solutions with concentrations more than 50 or 80%)
- water repellent finish
- oil and water repellent finish
- dirt-removing finish
All fabrics must comply with quality standards and PPE technical regulations.
