Characteristics of cotton fabrics

Cotton fiber comes from the seeds of the cotton plant, which are covered with many filaments and are harvested and spun into cotton threads.

The main component of cotton is fiber, which is formed during the ripening of the plant. The thickness of the fibers, their length and branching affect the quality and cost of raw material – the price per meter and roll of cotton fabric can vary greatly depending on the type and variety of cotton.

According to the length of the fiber are differentiated:

• up to 20 mm (underfiber) – production of nonwoven fabrics, synthetic fibers;
• 21-26 mm (short-fiber) – thick yarn, production of dense textiles (terry cloth, fleece, flannel);
• 27-35 mm (medium-fiber) – yarn of medium thickness, production of chintz, calico, denim, moleskin, etc.;
